Thursday, April 8th
There was lots of sunshine and no wind (finally!) as our Barcelona students traveled north from Santa Fe to visit Santuario de Chimayo, an historic church built on the site of what many believe to be a miracle associated with the crucifix of "Nuestro SeƱor de Esquipulas" (Our Lord of Esquipulas). The group was accompanied by Prep staff members Christella Velarde, Antoinette Roybal and Miguel Gabaladon, all of whom can trace their ancestry directly back to Spain.
After a special tour of the Santuario, students enjoyed lunch at Rancho de Chimayo, a restaurant located in an historic hacienda in the beautiful Chimayo Valley. They ended the day with a soak at the mineral hot springs of Ojo Caliente.
